Koinonia

Here is a word you don’t hear everyday Koinonia.  Koinonia in its simplest form is Communion by intimate participation, and in some context a jointly contributed gift.

So how does Koinonia tie in to Homelessness? It is the way we want you to help, by joint participation with us, in sharing, community, and relationships.

Firstly share with us your stories, or the stories of your friends that are homeless. Secondly share your blessings and praises, so we may be joyed with you. Lastly share your needs, so that others may help. and through sharing we build relationships.

Relationships are special every one in every way. a relationships help build and strengthen bonds, between individuals as well as groups.  Relationships are what we all strive for, people we can share and talk with. From relationships and the bonds they create build community.

The term of community refers to a common unity, this can be of purpose or interest. Aiming at a common unity helps over come brokenness, divisiveness, and encourages mutually beneficial relationships. While there is no formal framework for community there is leadership. the ones who are leading are there to focus energy, and align interest, not impose control.

Koinonia creates a brethren bond which builds trust and, especially when combined with the values of Wisdom, Virtue and Honor, overcomes two of humanity’s deepest fears and insecurities: being betrayed and being demeaned.
